La Paz is the state's capital located in the southern end of the Baja California peninsula, tucked between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Sea of Cortez to the east. La Paz has a unique natural beauty thanks to its privileged location, with the ocean as its main protagonist. The varied landscape also encompasses arid terrain, mountainous areas, mangroves, and abundant fauna.
Our capital is one of three coastal capitals in Mexico, and it’s currently home to the largest population in the state of Baja California Sur. The climate is dry most of the year, and the average annual temperature is 18 to 22 degrees Celsius (64 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit).
